So here's my first "official" blog post. It's gonna include a bit about me as well as the business. I'm new to this so bear with me while I get the hang of things. Anyway here it is...
So if you didn't already know, I'm Radjua (aka MrsMoneyHaffiMek) ;) , I'm the creator of 17 Jewellers and I'm 21 years old.
I'm half Jamaican half Ghanaian and South London (the best part of London) is where I call home.
If you're wondering what I do with my life well... besides running the business (much harder than it looks) I also go to uni full time. At the moment I'm studying Jewellery and Silversmithing at Birmingham City University which is why I'm always back and forth between Birmingham and London,
How 17 Jewellers started
Loads of people ask me why grillz? Why is your business called 17 (One Seven) Jewellers? How did you get started?
Honestly in never had the intention to start a jewellery business, I actually wanted to be a Quantity Surveyor. But I found out fast that it really wasn't what I wanted to do... I did actually complete the first year of a Quantity Surveying degree but then I dropped out and changed course (more details on that in another post).
Anyway, it all started back in September 2017...
I got a white gold tooth and when I went in to get my impression taken, I was fascinated with what was going on around me. Anyway it took like 6 weeks for me to get the finished product, and as soon as I saw it I wanted another one. I'm mad impatient though and I didn't want to wait another 6 weeks. I though "I could probably make one myself". So I went home and for weeks I was gathering information on how grillz are made.
Once I was confident I had enough information, I bought everything I needed and went to work on making one for myself.
Shoutout to Jewelcast for casting my first ever gold tooth (9k Rose Gold)
And Daniel Diamonds for being the first person to give me advice.
Anyway I polished it up, put it on snapchat and loads of people started messaging me to make them grillz. I went away and practiced more until I was 100% confident. 17 Jewellers was started in February 2018 and I've been grinding ever since!
Why "One Seven" and not "Seventeen" Jewellers you ask?
It's simple really. 1 and 7 are my favourite numbers. 1 because I was born on the 1st and 7 because the area I'm from is referred to as "The 7".
So... now you know a little more about me!
Look out for my next blog post - I'll probably do a poll on Instagram to see what everyone is interested in.
Laters! - Radjua :)
